Writing Idea #1:
Growing a Word Tree: Rocket would sniff out new words and bring them back to the classroom to hang on his word tree. He would fetch words that inspired him like buttercup and owl, and then would use some of the words in his story.
Take a trip to a local park, playground, or a place of your choice to find words that inspire you. Write down the things that you see on the small pieces of paper provided. Once you have found and written 5-10 words, paste them onto your word tree. Look at the words that you have collected, and think about how you could connect them to form a story. Once you have an idea for your story, grab a pencil and paper, and start creating your very own story using some of the words on your word tree! Click on the picture below to

Writing Advice for Rocket: Rocket's teacher, the little yellow bird, gave Rocket writing advice throughout the story. The little yellow bird helped Rocket think of things that he could write about. She told him that he could write about something that he really enjoys, or something that inspires him. The little yellow bird also reminded him that stories take time.

Letter to Rocket: After days of thinking, writing, and erasing, Rocket finally wrote his first story! Writing a story is not an easy thing to do, and is quite an accomplishment. After he had finished writing the story, Rocket couldn't wait to read it to the owl. The owl absolutely loved it, and was very impressed with Rocket's story.
Write a friendly letter to Rocket congratulating him on writing his first story. Here are some ideas of what you can include in your letter:
Remember to start your letter with "Dear Rocket," and to end your letter
with "Your friend, (your name)"!
