Owl's Open- Mind Portrait
Through the voice of Rocket, it is very clear that Rocket is very outgoing, and adventurous. He announced to everyone that he is writing a story, he was very friendly towards the owl, and he continuously searched for inspiration. In this activity, you will create an open-mind portrait of owl to identify owl's feelings, attitude, and point of view in the story. Think about the different events that happened in the story. If this story was told from the owl's point of view, how do you think owl would have reacted or felt throughout the story?
Click on the image below to download and print the open-mind portrait. On the left-hand side of the portrait, you will color in the owl. On the right hand side of the portrait, draw and write words that describe what the owl may be thinking/ feeling throughout the story. Think about what the owl may have been thinking when he heard Rocket announce that he was looking for words for his story, what the owl was feeling when he heard the
beginning of Rocket's story, etc.
After you have finished the portrait, share with a friend what pictures and words you chose to include in the mind of the owl.
